JB Guard offers a unique perspective to those interested in owning a piece of Maui's island paradise. Born and raised on Maui, he has seen firsthand the dramatic growth and changes in real estate on Maui and in Hawaii. Through his large network of friends and family, JB has access to home and land offerings that would otherwise be missed. JB Guard has become the expert that people seek when they look to buy or sell property on Maui and throughout the State of Hawaii.

JB grew up in the beautiful upcountry Kula and now resides on the North Shore of Maui in beautiful Kuau, near Spreckelsville, Paia and Haiku. JB Guard graduated from Seabury Hall with many of Maui’s future top consultants and colleagues, one of the Country’s selected “Blue Ribbon” winning schools, on the slopes of Maui’s famous Haleakala. University attracted Mr. Guard to the prestigious Pepperdine University in California where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine. During his studies, Guard was selected to an exchange at the Australian Capital’s University of Canberra. The student/ competitor explored Australia while completing research at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra and was selected to play for one of the city's top under 21 select rugby union teams, Norths Rugby Club in Belconnen.

Returning to Maui in the early 90's, JB went to work with his degree and started a personal fitness training company while giving expert fitness advice to the “Who’s Who” of the globe at the Grand Wailea Resort and Spa. In 1996, the Maui Family YMCA opened up a new facility with 2 floors of workout area and racquetball courts. In need of professional trainers, JB Guard was asked to join the fitness team to help the Maui community learn about and reach new levels of physical fitness and improved lifestyles.

Seeing clients’ improvements became a gratifying turning point for Guard as he opened up his own Pono Fitness Training to work with a greater number of individuals one on one and to give him time to coach teens in sport. The idea of Pono, or balance, righteousness, moral, proper in Hawaiian, was an integral mantra for the rest of his days. It was in this position of training that one of Maui’s own residents suggested that Guard learn about real estate as an investment. She felt that JB’s caring nature, excellent people skills, sharp wit, ethical business sense would lead him to a successful career in Real Estate Sales and Development.

After establishing himself as one of the top fitness professionals in the State, JB decided to go in to real estate sales, investing, and development in the year 2000 with Coldwell Banker Island Properties. Since then, Guard has assisted friends, family members, colleagues and repeat clients with more than $40 million in real estate investments.

JB Guard affirms that he would not be on Maui if outrigger canoe paddling was not in his life. In his free time, the quintessential competitor races internationally in the Hawaii State Sport. In recent years, Guard and his teammates have won the coveted Freshman men race at the State level on their way to helping Hawaiian Canoe Club of Maui win three State Championship Titles in a row for the first time in Maui paddling history. Guard has also earned Maui’s Best Finishes in the Moloka’I to O’ahu Relay in 2003 with partner Kekoa Cramer, best ever for the Moloka’I Solo 32 mile race in 2002 and 2003. In October 2003, Guard was a member of the 5th Place team from Hawaiian Canoe Club in the Moloka’I Hoe 40 mile race between Moloka’I and O’ahu. Guard still enjoys limited fitness consultations with people from across the globe as he believes in people having Balance (Pono) in their lives.

JB is a motivated individual whose passion is to help people find their own piece of paradise. Guard would love to add you to the distinguished list of people benefiting from his experience in the Hawaii real estate industry, Maui knowledge and above all the Spirit of Aloha.
